Emma Le May · Former manager“Dan’s super power is making things happen. […] a brilliant and reliable expert in his field. […] Dan is a tremendous partner to the business and the colleagues he works alongside to deliver the highest quality productions time and time again.”
Global Head of Creative Production, Credit Suisse
At my core, I am a producer. I see opportunities, connect people and ideas, and take responsibility for making things work in reality. My experience in directing and production taught me to move between the bigger picture and the details that determine whether something can be delivered. Today, I apply that ability to business and social challenges, whether the starting point is an unclear need, an untested hypothesis, or an existing concept that needs to work better.
My why
I’m curious about how things work, and what becomes possible when people bring different experiences together.
I enjoy turning an idea or an unmet need into something real. What matters most to me is seeing people gain the confidence and capability to take it further themselves.
I focus on capability building, digital and AI adoption, and portfolio and programme management.
Where I step in
I help organisations build capability, communicate with purpose and deliver complex work.
Organisational Capability
I help teams identify what’s holding them back and put the capabilities, tools, and ways of working in place to move forward.
Brand Communication
I help turn strategic intent into creative direction, formats, and experiences that people understand and engage with.
Portfolio Delivery
I help establish direction, align teams and partners, and carry initiatives through to delivery.
Recommendation
Philippe Angst · Former manager“[Dan] balances strategic, hands-off leadership with hands-on execution when needed […] His work set a benchmark for creative use of technology in the
Video & Events environment.”
Executive Director – Global Head of Video Creation & Event Production, UBS
Start with the objective.
Build what it takes.
Across these areas, I start by understanding the objective and the people affected. Curiosity helps me spot patterns; research, conversations and data help me check them. I test uncertain assumptions before committing further resources, balancing room to learn with clear ownership, budgets and delivery standards.
- 01Understand the challengeClarify the objective, build on what works and identify what is holding progress back.
- 02Develop and testShape the approach, test it in real conditions and refine it before committing further resources.
- 03Deliver and build capabilityPut it into practice with clear ownership, building the skills and routines teams need to sustain it.
I build capabilities with teams so they can own, use and develop them beyond my involvement.
Ways to work together
The objective shapes the work. The scope, continuity and responsibility needed shape how I join your team.
I join your team to deliver an agreed scope, from shaping a format to improving a workflow.
Agreed scope · Defined period
I take responsibility for a function or capability for an agreed share of my time.
Ongoing ownership · Part-time
I step into a role temporarily, keep delivery moving and prepare a clear handover.
Temporary role · Full responsibility
I join your organisation in a permanent capacity.
Permanent · Full-time or part-time
Recommendation
Dominic Bestler · Former manager“[Dan] drew on his experience in the creative industry to bring valuable ideas for improvement and actively contribute to new developments. […] His planning and organizational skills helped him steer even difficult work processes successfully.”

Questions
What people usually ask before we talk.
Who is Dan Deutsch?
I turn needs and promising ideas into capabilities people can use and sustain. I begin by understanding the objective and the people affected. Curiosity and instinct help me spot patterns; research, conversations, observation, and data help me check them. I evaluate possible directions, recommend a way forward, and test uncertain assumptions before committing more resources than necessary. My approach is iterative when we need to learn and disciplined when we need to deliver. I use the methods that fit the situation, with clear ownership, decisions, budgets, and standards. I lead by bringing stakeholders and specialists together around a shared purpose. Creative direction helps me shape a compelling format; production leadership helps me turn it into a working solution. I stay close enough to delivery to spot risks and remove obstacles, while enabling others to contribute and take ownership. When the evidence calls for a change, I make the trade-offs clear and help the team adjust course. I measure success by the impact the work has on people and by whether it can keep delivering. I share what we learn and build the processes, relationships, and confidence others need to carry it forward. That is the value I bring: from identifying what is needed to producing a solution that lasts beyond my involvement. I’m based in Zurich and work globally by design: remotely, or hybrid with travel in proportion, as my home base and family are in Zurich.
What does “Capability Enabler” mean?
It’s my name for what I do: I help organisations define what they need, develop the format that gets them there, and build the capability and delivery around it, so the work keeps going after I step back. The work spans internal communication and employer branding, branded content and campaigns, digital products and media services, and sustainability and social awareness. Creative direction, executive production and content operations are part of what I bring, not the limit of it. You may also come across my earlier name for it: Format Enabler.
Is your work only about video?
No. Film is one format among many. The work includes campaigns, learning and employer formats, hybrid events, VR experiences and interactive platforms, as well as redesigning how teams plan, produce and distribute content, including bringing AI into existing workflows with human review.
Where are you based and where do you work?
I’m based in Zurich, CH, and work globally by design: remotely, or hybrid with travel in proportion, as my home base and family are in Zurich. I work in German, English and Hebrew.
How can we work together?
Embedded for a defined challenge, fractional for an ongoing function, interim to bridge a gap or lead a transition, or in-house in a permanent role, full-time or part-time. The scope and working arrangement follow the challenge.
How do film production terms translate into an organisation?
A film set is a temporary organisation with a fixed goal, deadline, budget and stakeholders. The vocabulary changes. The management discipline does not.
